Beef Production Seminar at: Fairgrounds Community Building in Elwood on Monday, March 24

Beef producers will have the opportunity to learn the latest information on several topics at a Seminar that will be held at the Fairgrounds Community Building in Elwood on Monday, March 24. The program will feature University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension Educators and Specialists who will provide information on timely topics which will be of interest to area cattlemen. Registration will begin at 10:00 a.m. and the program will conclude at approximately 2:30 p.m.
Speakers will present the following topics as time allows:
Capturing Domestic and Foreign Beef Markets – Noel Mues, UNL Extension Educator. Provide an update on Animal I.D. including Premise Identification, Process Verified Programs and Quality Systems Assessment which are necessary for participation in International Beef Markets.
Feeding and Using Distillers in a Cow-Calf Operation – Brent Plugge, UNL Extension Educator. The topic covers information on handling, storage and utilization of distillers in formulating rations for cow-calf operators.
Pre & Post Calving Nutrition – Aaron Stalker, UNL Extension Beef Range Systems Specialist. Information will be provided on nutrition requirements and ration formulation for lactating cows and heifers for optimum performance and preparation for rebreeding.
