NEBRASKA CATTLE ON FEED DOWN 1 PERCENT FROM A YEAR AGO

LINCOLN, Neb., -- Nebraska feedlots, with capacities of 1,000 or more head, contained 2.49 million cattle on feed on March 1, according to USDA’s, National Agricultural Statistics Service, Nebraska Field Office. The inventory was down 1 percent from last year but 2 percent above March 1, 2006.
Placements in feedlots during February totaled 350,000 head, down 3 percent from 2007 but 6 percent above 2006. Marketings of fed cattle during February totaled 360,000 head, down 5 percent from last year but equal to 2006. Other disappearance during February totaled 10,000 head compared with 10,000 head for both February 2007 and February 2006. |
