Cherry County FFA Chapters Receive National Recognition in Pfizer Marketing Contest

Pfizer announces the winners of their 2011 FFA Marketing Contest.  Over 350 schools across the nation enter the contest and the Valentine FFA Chapter placed 2nd and Cody-Kilgore Chapter received honorable mention and was in the top twenty.  The Valentine Chapter received a $2,000 cash award and the Cody-Kilgore Chapter received a $1,000 cash award.  The participating chapters developed outstanding plans and did a great job educating producers and marketing Pfizer Animal Health products together with their local animal health supplier and/or veterinary clinic.  Each chapter submitted their Pfizer marketing, sales or educational plan for one or more Pfizer Animal Health product.  Their entry included a written plan with five action photos, demonstration of the product before a livestock producer audience, livestock producer survey, and a written summary of the chapter’s activities.

The Valentine FFA Chapter worked with Dr. Brad Rodgers at the Cherry County Veterinary Clinic in Valentine, NE and they demonstrated the proper uses and benefits of five Pfizer Beef Animal Health Products.  The products demonstrated were Dectomax Injectable Solution, CIDRS, Bovi-Shield Gold 5, Synovex – C and Excede. The FFA members developed a DVD and power point to show to cattle producers at the 72nd annual Sandhills Cattle Convention Trade Show in Valentine, NE.  They also had products on display from the Cherry County Veterinary Clinic to show cattle producers.  The FFA members surveyed beef producers to measure the overall impact of the Chapter’s marketing and educational efforts.

The Cody-Kilgore FFA worked with Lancaster Livestock in developing a Pfizer advertising campaign.  FFA members developed a slide show which contained information about the importance of Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) and a brief summary of some of the many Pfizer products.  The slide show also contained information about Cody-Kilgore FFA and how Pfizer and Lancaster Livestock have helped the Cody-Kilgore FFA.  FFA members presented the slide show and visited with cattlemen at the Sandhills Cattle Association Convention trade show last May promoting Pfizer products.
