Mead FFA Chapter Finds Success



State Champion Proficiency Winners

The Mead FFA Chapter participated in the 84th Nebraska State FFA Convention in Lincoln on March 28th-March 30th.  During the State FFA Convention our members were busy with numerous events.  Between sessions, competitions, and workshops, Mead FFA Members were busy. 

Allison Hough received top Gold at districts and 1st Gold at state in Specialty Animal Production.  

In the Nursery Operations area, Jenna Schutt was top Gold at districts and 1st Gold at State.

Don Treptow was top Gold at the District level and was 1st Gold at State in the Plant Science Agriscience Research Area. 

Jessica Thomas received 2nd Gold at the District level in the Equine Science Area.

 The highest degree that the State FFA Association can bestow on its members is the State FFA Degree.  To earn this degree, members must have earned or productively invested a minimum of $3,000 or worked at least 1,500 hours outside of class time on their Supervised Agricultural Experience, they must also be active in the FFA Chapter and demonstrate leadership qualities to meet minimum qualifications.  Mead FFA had four members accomplish this difficult process.  Allison Hough, Jessica Thomas, Jenna Schutt, and Lindsey Pearson all received their State FFA Degrees during the 84th State FFA Convention. 

In the Agriscience competition, Freshmen Lowell Johnson, Haley Konecky, Lauren Taylor, and Hana Mayfield all received purple ribbons and were State Runner-Ups.  They received a purple ribbon as a team and the Runner-Up plaque. 

In the Nursery and Landscape contest,  Jenna Schutt, Michele Garcia, Josie Tweedy, and Julia Schnell placed 10th overall in their respective contest receiving a blue ribbon as a team.  Jenna Schutt received a purple ribbon while Julia Schnell and Josie Tweedy both received a white ribbon.

The Agronomy team consisting of Maddison Nygren, Alex McDonald, Devynn Patocka, and Chandler Sorensen placed in the top 25 receiving a Red Ribbon as a team.  Chandler Sorensen received a blue ribbon, Maddison Nygren received a red ribbon and Alex McDonald and Devynn Patocka both received white ribbons.

The Natural Resource team consisting of Lindsey Pearson, Allison Hough, Dillon Drews, and Jamie Larsen placed in the top 25 and received a red ribbon as a team.  Allison Hough received a blue ribbon, Lindsey Pearson received a red ribbon and Jamie Larsen received a white ribbon. 

The Floriculture team consisting of Christina Nelson, Jenna Schutt, Alex McDonald, and Josie Tweedy all competed well in another tough contest.  Jenna Schutt received a blue ribbon and Christina Nelson received a red ribbon. 
            The Meats Evaluation team consisting of Tanner Parkins, Megan Rozic, and Walker Rathke all competed well in a very tough contest.

The Junior Livestock team consisting of Brandon Pickworth, Wyatt Andersen, Megan Rozic, and Cameron Mikkelson gained valuable experience and competed well in their contest.

The Ag Sales team consisting of Julia Schnell, Jessica Thomas, Amanda Ruhe, and Miranda Charles all competed well and also gained some valuable salesmanship experience. 

Congratulations to all of the Mead FFA members who competed at State FFA Convention.
