2012 4-H Swine Dawson County Fair Results

It was a rip-snortin good time at the Steven’s Arena on Saturday morning with squeals ringing out at the Dawson County 4-H Fair as the 4-H'ers drove their prized hogs in front of the judge. Their hard work and excel­lent quality translated into a very competitive show. Placings for swine showmanship and the market hog classes were:

 

SHOWMANSHIP

 

Junior Division – Jace Russman (G) received a purple ribbon and the trophy in the junior division. Also receiving purple ribbons: Tanner Rowe (El), Evan Peterson (G), and Carson Rohde (Ed).  Blue ribbons:  Tucker Wyatt (G), Jacob Stieb (L), Johnathon Lauer (G), Heath Keiser (G), Drew Franzen (C), Mattison Beattie (S), Gracie Schneider (C), Jordyn Franzen (G), Kaitlyn Kleinknecht (C), Kalib Jones (G), MeKenzie Beattie (S), and Savannah Peterson (G).

 

Intermediate Division – Patrick Peterson (G) received a purple ribbon and the trophy for the division.  Other purples:  Tigh Renken (B), and Braydon Benjamin (L).  Blues: Karleigh Kleinknecht (C), Logan Carlson (G), Emily Keiser (G), and Alyssa Schneider (C).

 

Senior Division - A purple ribbon and the trophy in the senior division went to Samantha Schneider (C).  Other purple ribbon winners were:  Alex Boryca (C), Darcy Benjamin (L), and Dillon Margritz (L).  Blue ribbons:  Bricen Margritz (L), Jordan Lauer (G), and Kyle Kleinknecht (C).

 

MARKET BARROWS

Class A (293 lbs to 342 lbs) - Purple ribbons: Johnathon Lauer (G), Kaitlyn Kleinknecht (C), Bricen Margritz (L), Emily Keiser (G), and Tanner Rowe (El).  Blue ribbons:  Heath Keiser (G), Kaitlyn Kleinknecht (C), MeKenzie Beattie (S), Kyle Kleinknecht (C), and Emily Keiser (G).

 

Class B (285 - 292 lbs) - Purple ribbons: Jacob Stieb (L), Braydon Benjamin (L), and Tanner Rowe (El).  Blues:  Jordyn Franzen (G), Kyle Kleinknecht (C), Jordan Lauer (G), Jacob Stieb (L), Mattison Beattie (S), and Karleigh Kleinknecht (C). 

 

Class C (273 - 284 lbs) - Purple ribbons: Drew Franzen (C), Heath Keiser (G), Jacob Stieb (L), Johnathon Lauer (G), Savannah Peterson (G), Tigh Renken (B), Jordyn Franzen (C), Kyle Kleinknecht (C), and Samantha Schneider (C).  Blue ribbon:  Evan Peterson (G).

 

Class D (252 - 272 lbs) – Purple ribbons: Kalib Jones (G), Jace Russman (G) x 2, Savannah Peterson (G) x 2, Gracie Schneider (C), Tanner Rowe (El), Emily Keiser (G), Jordan Lauer (G), Braydon Benjamin (L), and Bricen Margritz (L).

 

Class E (195 – 250 lbs) – Purple ribbons:  Tigh Renken (B), Patrick Peterson (G), Tucker Wyatt (G), Logan Carlson (G), Savannah Peterson (G), and Evan Peterson (G) x 2.  Blue ribbons:  Darcy Benjamin (L), and Carson Rohde (Ed).  Carson Rohde also received a blue ribbon on his underweight barrow as part of the same class.

 

The Grand Champion Barrow belonged to Logan Carlson (G), and the Reserve Champion Barrow belonged to Jace Russman (G).

 

MARKET GILTS

 

Class F (282 - 360 lbs) - Purple ribbons: Evan Peterson (G), Jace Russman (G), and Bricen Margritz (L). Blues:  Jordan Lauer (G), Kaitlyn Kleinknecht (C), Kalib Jones (G), MeKenzie Beattie (S), Kyle Kleinknecht (C), Mattison Beattie (S), and Drew Franzen (C).

 

Class G (266 - 280 lbs.) - Purple ribbons:  Samantha Schneider (C), Alex Boryca (C), Patrick Peterson (G), Heath Keiser (G), Alyssa Schneider (C), and Jordyn Franzen (C).  Blues:  Bricen Margritz (L), and Karleigh Kleinknecht (C) x 2.

 

Class H (253 - 265 lbs) – Purple ribbons: Jace Russman (C), Jordyn Franzen (C), Johnathon Lauer (G), Tigh Renken (B), Jordan Lauer (G), Drew Franzen (C), Patrick Peterson (G), and Tanner Rowe (El). Blues:  Karleigh Kleinknecht (C), and Tucker Wyatt (G).

 

Class I (230 – 250 lbs) – Purple ribbons:  Logan Carlson (G), Carson Rohde (Ed), Kaitlyn Kleinknecht (C), Alyssa Schneider (C), Darcy Benjamin (L), and Emily Keiser (G).  Blues:  Kalib Jones (G), and Wyatt Tucker (G).

 

Class J (190 – 226 lbs) – Blue ribbons:  Darcy Benjamin (L), Gracie Schneider (C), Braydon Benjamin (L), Kalib Jones (G), Johnathon Lauer (G), Dillon Margritz (L), Drew Franzen (C), and Patrick Peterson (G).  Braydon Benjamin also received a blue ribbon on his underweight gilt in this class.

 

The Grand Champion Gilt selected was owned by Tigh Renken (B) and the Reserve Champion Gilt was owned by Samantha Schneider (C).

 

OVERALL GRAND CHAMPION AND RESERVE CHAMPION - The judge chose the Grand and Reserve Champion market swine as an example of the kind of market-ready animals 4-H’ers may want to bring to future fairs. He chose the Grand Champion belonging to Logan Carlson (G) , and Reserve Champion owned by Tigh Renken (B).

 

Group of 5 – Horseshoe Bend 4-H Club team #1 (L) was the top Group of 5 winner. The club received a purple ribbon and will have its name placed on the plaque.

 

Purple ribbons also went to the Tail Twisters 4-H Club team #1 (G), 100^th Meridian 4-H Club (C), Horseshoe Bend 4-H Club team #2 (L) and Tail Twisters 4-H Club team #2 (G).  A blue ribbon went to Sumner Livestock 4-H Club (S).
