GL_LS165 Greeley, CO Fri Jul 18, 2008 USDA-CO Dept of Ag Market New CO Direct Feeder Cattle Weighted Avg Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 07/18/2008 Receipts: 8195 Last Week: 2055 Last Year: 9360 Compared to last week: Market activity was active on good demand as feedlots began filling pens after several months of reduced supplies. In addition, many producers were willing the sell at the firmer prices, especially with their pasture conditions continuing to decline due to the lack of much needed rains. Feeder steers weighing in the 850 to 900 pounds weight range were the only comparable weights to last week and they sold mostly 3.00 to 5.00 higher. This week 96 percent of the feeder supply weighed over 600 lbs. Feeder supply consisted of 79 percent steers and 21 percent heifers. Unless otherwise stated prices are FOB with a 2-3 percent shrink or equivalent and with a 5-10 cent slide on calves and 3-6 cent slide on yearlings from base weight.
