JC_LS138 St. Joseph, MO Tue May 13, 2008 USDA/MO Dept of Ag Market News Service Maryville- United Producers Inc. Cattle Auction Report Close for 05/13/2008 Receipts: 1717 Last Week: 366 Year Ago: 1742 Compared to two weeks ago, steers over 500 lbs sold mostly steady with all weights of heifers trading steady to 3.00 higher. Lightweight stocker steers weighing under 500 lbs were fully 10.00-12.00 higher with limited availability and very good grass demand. Comparisons to the last feeder special were fairly difficult as this week's offering was uneven as to quality but the flesh condition of many consignments was much more attractive to the buyers. Yet another large run of slaughter cows this week, with both cows and bulls selling 1.00-3.00 but mostly 2.00 higher. Supply included 20 percent slaughter cattle with the balance feeders. The feeder supply was made up of 51 percent steers and 49 percent heifers. Around 57 percent of the feeder cattle weighed over 600 lbs. Note: United Producers Inc. has scheduled a Special Bred Cow and Pair Sale next Tuesday, May 20th at noon.
