Macon - Lolli Brothers Livestock Market
Feeder Cattle Auction for 05/13/08
Receipts: 1150 Week Ago: 1490 Year Ago: 1493
Compared with the previous auction; feeder steers 3.00-5.00 higher,
feeder heifers 1.00-3.00 higher. Slaughter cows 4.00-5.00 higher.
Demand seems to improve every week for all cattle at the market with
feeder cattle buyers looking down the road at substantially higher
fed cattle prices and slaughter cow buyers trying to fill all of the
retail hamburger orders. Wet and cool weather continues to keep
North Missouri row crop farmers out of the fields as the entire states
corn crop was only 34 percent planted as of May 11, which is one of the
slowest planting paces in the nation. Demand good and supply moderate.
Cows and bulls accounted for 20 percent of the run, and feeders
80 percent. In the feeder supply, steers and bulls made up
approximately 66 percent of the run; heifers 34 percent; steers and
heifers over 600 lbs totaled around 40 percent.
