Southeast Missouri Show-Me Select Replacement Heifer Sale

Commercial Agriculture Program, MU College of Veterinary Medicine,
Missouri Cattlemen Association and Missouri Dept of Agriculture.
Heifers in this sale have met minimum standards for reproductive
soundness, pelvic size, frame size, muscle thickness, body condition, and
weight. They have undergone a comprehensive health program, and are
guaranteed bred. There are 108 A.I. bred heifers. A highlight of the sale
there are 46 Tier 2 Show Me Select heifers in the sale. This means that
they have met requirements and are out high accuracy sires. Several herds
have 6 to 7 generations of stacked pedigrees. Several consignors feed
their cattle and get top premium at U.S. Premium Beef on steers mates.
All heifers are expected to calve from mid August thru late November with
projected dates given for each lot of heifers. Within the offering, there
were 91 percent black or black white face, some Registered Angus,
Registered Polled Hereford and Registered Simmentals, the rest of the
offering consisted of Angus, Hereford, Simmental, Charolais crosses.
Heifers were graded and sorted into uniform lots according to projected
calving dates and body type similarity. The producers attendance and
demand was lighter than the December sale.
Supply consisted of 179 bred heifers from 18 producers, in 90 lots
selling to 23 different buyers, average weight 1098 lbs, with a sale
average of $1138.00 per head. There were 52 lots of AI bred heifers with
an average sale price of $1166.00; 26 lots all natural bred heifers with
an average price of $1058.00; 12 lots of mixed AI and natural bred
heifers with an average sale price of 1144.00.
Replacement Heifers: Few Registered Angus or Simmentals Large 1-2, 2nd
Stage 1025.00-1400.00; one Large 1, Simmental 2nd stage, 1720.00; Large 1-
2, 2nd stage, $1055.00-$1175.00; reputation lots, 1200.00-1275.00 Medium
and Large 1-2, 2nd stage, 1075.00-1200.00; few Medium 1, 2nd stage,
1025.00-$1150.00; few Medium 2, 2nd stage, 800.00-1025.00 per head.
