Cow and Bull Auction Close for 5/14/08
Receipts: 1210 Last Week: 1365 Last Year: 1522
Compared to last Wednesday, slaughter cows sold steady to 2.00 higher
with most advance on the breaking and boning cows. Slaughter bulls sold
2.00 higher. As slaughter prices continue higher many bred cows will weigh
out more dollars than producers will give to take them back home to raise
another calf. Most cows sold as replacements were 2-6 years of age. Several
dispersals included in the offering providing a good supply of cow/calf
pairs. Supply was heavy and demand very good for slaughter classes.
