JC_LS769 Jefferson City, MO Thu May 8, 2008 MO Dept of Ag/USDA Market News Green City- Green City Livestock Auction Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 05/07/2008 Receipts: 3567 2 Weeks Ago: 1309 Year Ago: 2364 Compared with the previous auction; feeder steers under 700 lbs steady, over 700 lbs 3.00-5.00 higher. Feeder Heifers under 600 lbs 2.00-3.00 higher, over 600 lbs 4.00-6.00 higher. Slaughter cows steady to 1.00 higher. A large number of consigners with the supply consisting of several strings of fancy reputation cattle, but also many smaller packages of calves. Buyers picky about flesh, especially on the new crop calves that were offered. Demand moderate on calves and good to very good for yearlings with the and supply moderate to heavy. Cows and bulls accounted for 10 percent of the run and feeders 90 percent. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 52 percent of the run and heifers 48 percent. Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 55 percent.
