Feeder Cattle Auction Narrative Report for 6/25/2008 Actual Receipts: 6241 Last Week: 4790 Last Year: 6193 Compared to last week: Feeder steers 2.00-3.00 higher, heifers 1.00-2.00 higher. Steer and heifer calves 2.00-4.00 higher on weaned kinds, steady to eak on others. Demand very good as supplies of feeder cattle somewhat tight for the season. Run included about 2,000 calves with many large lots of weaned and unweaned calves of area ranches. Fleshy unweaned calves sold at a heavy discount. Several feeder cattle available from south of the Red River. Flesh conditions thin to moderate, few fleshy. Feeder supply included 78 percent over 600 lbs and 44 percent heifers. Slaughter cows and bulls 1.00-2.00 higher. Packer demand good. Several pairs and young open cows available off a couple consignments. Total of 380 cows and bulls sold with 50 percent going to packers.
