SF_LS315 Sioux Falls, SD Thu May 15, 2008 USDA-SD Dept Ag Market News Weekly Sheep Summary Slaughter lambs sold mostly steady on a light test. Slaughter ewes steady to 2.00 higher. Feeder lambs (all new crop) sold steady. Sheep supplies near 56 percent slaughter ewes, about 31 percent feeder lambs and the balance mostly slaughter lambs. Receipts this week 785 including 1 goat compared with 963 including 54 goats last week and 610 including 64 goats a year ago. The estimated Federally Inspected sheep and lamb slaughter the first three days this week 24,000 compared with 26,000 last week and 26,000 a year ago. Shorn Slaughter Lambs: Choice 2-3 few 155 lbs 90.00. Wooled Slaughter Lambs: Choice and Prime 2-3 115 lbs new crop 110.00. Slaughter Ewes: Good 2-3 25.50-32.50, Good 2-4 20.00- 27.00, Utility and Good 1-2 22.00-25.50, Utility 1-2 17.00- 20.00, Cull 1 10.00-17.50. Feeder Lambs: Medium and Large 1-2 (All New Crop) 44 lbs 120.50, few 52 lbs 115.00, 71-76 lbs 115.50-119.50, 90-93 lbs 112.75-114.00.
