Weekly Feeder Cattle Summary w/e July 26, 2008

Receipts: 6500 Week Ago: 4750 Year Ago: 4650
Compared to last week at Wyoming auctions feeder steers and heifers were not
well tested. Demand moderate. Direct trading moderate this past week. Not
enough comparable sales for price trend. Buyer inquiry and demand light to
moderate. Some interest noted for fall contracting of cattle. Unless otherwise
noted direct prices are current FOB with a 2-3 percent shrink or equivalent and
with a 5-10 cent from base weight. Steers made up approximately 56 percent of
the supply, heifers 44 percent. Offerings over 600 lbs totaled 96 percent.
Direct sales accounted for 6250 head of the total receipts.
